What is Travel Medical Insurance?
Travel medical insurance is a type of insurance designed to cover emergency health care costs incurred while traveling or vacationing away from home.
What is excluded from coverage?
Certain types of medical expenses are excluded from most travel medical policies.
Be sure to read the description of coverage for any plan you’re considering before you make the purchase. While reading the entire document front to back can be tedious, it’s better to know what’s excluded before you attempt to make a claim.
Most insurance companies use one of two definitions to identify such conditions. Under the “objective standard” definition, a pre–existing condition is any condition for which the patient has already received medical advice or treatment prior to enrollment in a new medical insurance plan.
*Does not include Travel Medevac’s “hospital of choice” medical evacuation. Plans provide medical evacuation coverage only to the nearest adequate facility from where you are hospitalized.
